Free tool

Is your royalty check right?

Recreate the decimal on your division order from three numbers, then put last month’s check against it. Free, instant, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

Just the acres inside this well's spacing unit, not everything you own.

On your division order or the state's well records. 640 and 1,280 are common out West.

From your lease. If you're unleased in a force-pooled unit, your state sets it.

Verify a check (optional)

From your check stub or your state's public production records.

This tool is for general illustration and education only. Its output is a hypothetical estimate built from broad, simplified rules of thumb — it is not financial, legal, tax, or investment advice, not an appraisal or valuation, and not an offer to purchase. It may be inaccurate or out of date, it cannot account for your specific facts, and no decision should rest on it. Confirm anything that matters with your own professionals. Your decimal interest

Enter your acres, the unit size, and your royalty to see the decimal. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent or stored.

Under the hood

The formula on your division order.

Decimal interest = your net acres in the unit ÷ the unit’s acres × your royalty rate. That’s the whole secret.

A few honest caveats. If the unit spans several tracts with different royalty rates, each tract gets its own decimal and your stub may show several lines. Some states prorate horizontal wells by lateral footage rather than acreage. And every check reflects post-production deductions, the oil/gas/liquids mix, and a month or two of reporting lag — so small differences are normal, while large, persistent ones deserve a question.

If the gap won’t close and the stub won’t explain itself, we’re glad to read it with you — that’s a conversation, not a commitment. Hypothetical math, not an audit or legal advice; your division order and lease govern.

No pressure, ever

A check that doesn’t add up is worth a conversation.
